Mental health and wellbeing

Natural disasters are extremely challenging for many people across the community. People will have varied physical and/or emotional reactions following a natural disaster. For some, it may feel overwhelming and become difficult to cope.

Donations

In partnership with the Queensland Government, GIVIT is managing offers of donated goods, services, and funds, including corporate offers, in response to the widespread flooding across Queensland and New South Wales.

Individuals seeking assistance

To access donated support through GIVIT, you must first connect with a support organisation able to assess your needs.

Organisations and charities

If you work for a charity, social service, school, community group, government or non-government organisation, you can apply to use GIVIT to help find the essentials that people you are working with need right now to improve their wellbeing and achieve better outcomes. 

Check to see if your organisation has an existing profile or register new on the GIVIT website.

Donate to the Queensland Flood Appeal

100 percent of the money received by GIVIT will be used to purchase essential items for people affected by floods in Queensland and New South Wales. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.

Free legal advice

Legal Aid Queensland

Contact Legal Aid Queensland for free legal help with issues you may face if your property has been damaged by floods or severe weather.

Common legal issues after a disaster include:

  • insurance claims
  • property
  • access to services and utilities
  • employment issues
  • debt and financial problems
  • small business and franchisor issues.
