Songwriters' Intensive

City of Moreton Bay is home to many talented musicians and creative songwriters. We’re committed to boosting songwriting capacity and performance of original music through a series of intensive workshops.

Led by seasoned mentors and songwriters, these sessions will guide you in creating, shaping, and refining your original songs. It’s a great chance to meet other musicians, learn new skills, and dive into the art of songwriting.

These workshops are tailored for experienced musicians and songwriters who can create or perform live original music.

Following the workshops, participants may be offered paid performance opportunities as part of Make Music Month.

This may include a Songwriters Showcase at Redcliffe Entertainment Centre in June. Participants chosen to perform in the Showcase must take part in the Masterclass and all others are invited to observe.

Expression of interest (EOI)

Expression of Interests will open on Tuesday, 27 January and close on Friday, 28 February. In your EOI, tell us how participating in these workshops would benefit your musical journey.

If you're part of a band, a maximum of two people from any one band can apply. Limited spaces are available, and submitting an EOI does not guarantee a spot. We will inform successful applicants by mid-March.

Songwriting workshops

Successful applicants must attend all sessions at their chosen location. Our intensive workshops will run across three locations and cater to different age groups.

• The youth workshop will take place at the Burpengary Library with Imagine Music.
• Adult workshops will take place at:
  • Albany Creek Library with Gabrielle Kerr
  • North Lakes Community Centre with I Heart Songwriting Club.
• The masterclass will be held at North Lakes Community Centre with Mark Sholtez.
