Notice of Making Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Local Law 2023 and Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Subordinate Local Law 2023

1. Moreton Bay City Council (Council) has, by resolution dated 8 November 2023, made—
   1. Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Local Law 2023 (Local Law); and
   2. Community Standards for Public Land and Roads Subordinate Local Law 2023 (Subordinate Local Law).
2. The Local Law repeals—
   1. Moreton Bay Regional Council Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas and Roads) 2011; and
   2. Moreton Bay Regional Council Subordinate Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas and Roads) 2011.
3. The Local Law authorises the making of the Subordinate Local Law.
4. The purpose and general effect of the Local Law and the Subordinate Local Law is to provide a regulatory framework for various activities on public land and roads in the local government area, including:
   1. restricting some activities on public land and roads;
   2. driving vehicles on public land;
   3. the management and use of shopping trolleys;
   4. the maintenance and repair of driveway crossovers and awnings overhanging public land and roads;
   5. the maintenance of road verges; and
   6. guidelines for verge gardens.
5. A copy of the Local Law and Subordinate Local Law may be—
   1. inspected and purchased at Council’s public office; and
   2. viewed by the public on the website of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.
