Moreton Bay locals can give their gardens a makeover with free mulch and composting tips as part of International Composting Awareness Week (7-13 May).
Mayor Peter Flannery encouraged everyone across the region, from small businesses to households, to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.
“Council’s commitment to keeping our region green and protecting the beauty of our landscape is clear, but the small steps taken by residents to reduce household waste makes a major difference,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Moreton Bay locals have always been proactive when it comes to protecting our wildlife and natural resources. Initiatives like International Composting Awareness Week gives Council the opportunity to support residents wanting to take the next step when reducing their household’s waste.”
Free composting workshops start Tuesday 9 May at Woodford Library, with three more workshops at Kumbartcho, Osprey House and Caboolture’s CREEC Centre on Saturday 13 May.
The free mulch and mulch loading for residents is available on Saturday 13 to 14 May, from 9am-12pm at the Bunya, Caboolture and Dakabin Waste Facilities. Be sure to bring your ID along with you.
Spaces for the free workshops are limited and bookings are essential.
