The new Councillor complaints system introduced in the Local Government (Councillor Complaints) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 came into force on 3 December 2018.
The new legislation incorporates a Code of Conduct for Councillors in Queensland which sets out the principles and standards of behaviour expected of Councillors and Mayors when carrying out their roles, responsibilities and obligations as elected representatives for their communities. In line with this legislation and in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009, a Register must also be kept.
