Creative workshop with artist Prita Tina Yeganeh
Next date: Wednesday, 14 January 2026 | 10:00 AM
to 11:30 AM
Prita is being commissioned to create new artwork for City of Moreton Bay’s Outdoor Gallery at North Lakes Library.
Join Prita for a creative workshop where you’ll co-create hand-drawn motifs. These will be inspired by Moreton Bay's natural environment and the experiences of those who live here.
Instead of using spoken or written language, you’ll learn how to express personal and shared stories visually.
Drawing on Iranian storytelling traditions, Prita will introduce the Farsh, the Persian word for rug or carpet, as a way to map ideas. She’ll help you develop a vocabulary of visual symbols to tell your own story.
About the facilitator
Prita Tina Yeganeh is a Magan-djin (Brisbane)-based visual artist of Iranian ancestry. She works across installation, print, textile, moving image, and participatory practice. Her art emerges from storytelling, familial narratives, and community exchange.
Through slow, durational processes and the use of symbolism, patternation, and printmaking, Yeganeh draws on Iranian sensibilities and knowledge systems. She uses this to explore the emotional and physical geographies of migration, identity, and place.
Her work brings cultural knowledge back from exile. It also shows that traditional crafts are not just old objects. Instead, she sees them as living and changing ways of understanding the world.
Accessibility
This venue has wheelchair access. Other participants will be present at the workshop and may be talking to each other. The venue has quieter areas for sensory breaks if required. For more information, email Cultural.Activation@moretonbay.qld.gov.au.
