Art Exhibition: Near Enough (Is Good Enough) III by Aaron Butt

Near Enough (Is Good Enough) III, a new solo exhibition by award-winning Queensland artist Aaron Butt. This exhibition continues Butt’s critically reflective practice inspired by Frank Hurley’s photographs of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914–17).

Through layered pigment, distortion, and abstraction, Butt interrogates the colonial and patriarchal ambitions. “Despite the historicity of the subject matter, Near Enough (Is Good Enough) is an allegory for our current world — a way of seeing where imperfection, adaptation, and endurance matter more than conquest,” says Butt.

This exhibition forms part of a Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) supported project, made possible through the partnership between the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay Regional Council.
