Hardship grants across 24 new suburbs have been activated today for City of Moreton Bay residents.

Council continues to provide evidence of impact to determine areas that require emergency assistance. We are working together with the State to activate hardship payments.

The State Government Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety (DFSDSCF) approve, administer and govern these grant programs.

The new areas are: Armstrong Creek, Bellthorpe, Booroobin, Burpengary, Burpengary East, Caboolture, Cashmere, Cedar Creek, Cedarton, Clear Mountain, Closeburn, Commissioners Flat, Dakabin, Dayboro, Deception Bay, Eatons Hill, Kallangur, Lawnton, Mango Hill, Morayfield, Narangba, Petrie, Samsonvale and Stanmore.

Further suburbs will be activated tomorrow (Saturday, November 29) upon confirmation of the State Government. 

The joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements provide $180 for individuals and up to $900 for a family. Community Recovery Hubs at Bribie Island and Wamuran have also been activated by the Department of Communities.

Current status:

  • Just under 900 Energex customers without power.
  • 8 Council road closures – flooded or obstructed
  • No TMR closures
  • All waste facilities continue to operate as normal.  Waste facilities at Dayboro, Ningi, Upper Caboolture and Wamuran have extended operating days due to the severe weather event.
  • Waste sites will be open this weekend.
