Council has completed the engineering design for the upgrade of the intersection of Ferny Way and Gordon Road, from its current priority intersection form to traffic signals. The objectives of the project are to reduce peak hour delay at the intersection and improve road safety for all road users.
The upgraded intersection works include:
- installation of traffic signals
- additional traffic lanes to separate through-traffic and turning traffic
- provision of pedestrian push button crossings at the intersection
- additional landscaping and street lighting
- green infrastructure upgrades to provide facilities for the safe movement of wildlife around the intersection.
Work has already commenced on site with the relocation of some underground services. Once this work is complete construction of the intersection upgrade can commence.
