Hands On Painting Workshop with Aaron Butt

Step into the creative process of award-winning Queensland artist Aaron Butt in this immersive half-day painting workshop at Obsidian Bide: Art Gallery & Studio, on Bribie Island. Inspired by Frank Hurley’s Antarctic photographs and Aaron’s exhibition Near Enough (Is Good Enough) III, this session invites you to explore experimental mark-making, layering, and textural techniques that celebrate imperfection and transformation.

Participants will create their own expressive artwork under Aaron’s guidance—no prior experience required.

Experiment with bold textures, mixed media, and intuitive colour.
Enjoy a relaxed, social studio atmosphere just steps from the Bribie foreshore.
All materials included—just bring curiosity.
