Councillor Ellie Smith was today sworn in to represent City of Moreton Bay’s Division 11.
During today’s ceremony at Council Chambers in Strathpine, officiated by Mayor Peter Flannery and CEO Scott Waters, Councillor Smith was congratulated and thanked her for the commitment she has already made to our City by standing as a Councillor.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Ellie Smith to the Council table,” Mayor Flannery said
“We are fortunate that our Council is non-party aligned, and as a diverse group of voices, we are able to work constructively together to ensure our focus is on delivering a positive and thriving future for City of Moreton Bay.
“We’re committed to listening to all our residents so we can grow in a balanced way well beyond this current term of Council.
“We too are residents and genuinely want the best for our community.”
Councillor Ellie Smith said she was excited to join City of Moreton Bay Council and looked forward to working for Division 11 residents.
“I have lived locally in Division 11 since 2017 and made City of Moreton Bay home.
“As residents we are lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world with thriving communities, I will focus on listening to the community and championing the issues of concern to them.
Together, we can continue to make City of Moreton Bay a better place for people to live, work and play,”
Division 11 encompasses Narangba, Kurwongbah, Dayboro, Samford Village, Samford Valley and Mount Samson among others.
The Division 11 By-election followed the resignation of Cr Darren Grimwade in July this year.
