Understanding diversity in DFV workshop

Next date: Tuesday, 28 October 2025 | 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM

Multi-coloured stars line the entire backdrop, they are made from paper, by victims of DFV. In the forground, is an open wooden chest, decorated in shiny stars.

Are you looking to deepen your knowledge of domestic and family violence (DFV)? In this free full-day workshop, we'll explore the diverse challenges faced by those experiencing DFV.

This workshop is for anyone working with people in the community. Whether you work with individuals or groups, you’ll gain valuable insights and practical tools.

What you will learn:

  • how DFV affects people in different ways depending on their background and circumstances
  • how to identify early warning signs of DFV
  • ways to create safe spaces, both physically and emotionally, for those affected and for those supporting them
  • useful information about local support services and referral options in the City of Moreton Bay.

The day will also include small group sessions led by specialist guest speakers. These sessions focus on understanding and responding to the specific needs of:

  • First Nations peoples
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • people with disability
  • LGBTIQA+ individuals
  • older adults
  • people experiencing mental health challenges

This workshop provides a practical and respectful space to learn and share insights, so you can better support those affected by DFV.
