Resident parking permit

A resident parking permit may be issued to residents whose house is located on a street where parking is restricted to one hour or more. 

To be eligible for a resident permit:

  • you must supply proof of residence at a residential property address in the Moreton Bay area. Proof of residence must be in the name of the person applying for the permit and match the address provided on the application
  • the registered vehicle must be in the same name as the applicant
  • your permit must be for an area with a signed time limit of one hour or more.

Resident parking permits will not be issued for:

  • trailers, boats, caravans, buses
  • heavy and long vehicles
  • unregistered vehicles 
  • contractors who do not live at the address
  • non-resident landlords
  • people who do not live at the address full-time.

How to apply

Step 1.Gather supporting documents

You will need:

  • proof of residence (this must be in the name of the person applying for the permit and match the address provided on the application).
  • a copy of your drivers licence (both sides)
  • a copy of the current vehicle registration notice in the same name as the applicant.

Step 2.Review the conditions

Make sure you review and understand the permit conditions(PDF, 323KB) before submitting your application.

  • Permits are valid for 12 months.
  • Permits are not renewable or transferable.
  • One registered car or motorbike can be nominated for a permit.

Step 3.Review fee and charges

In accordance with Council's fees and charges, an application fee of T966 is payable at the time of application.

Step 4.Sign in to your Online Services account

If you do not have an Online Services account, visit Online Services to find out how to register.

Step 5.Go to 'Enquiries'

Once signed into Online Services, select 'Enquiries'.

Step 6.Select enquiry type

Find the enquiry type 'Permits and Licences - Parking Permits' and select 'Start'

Step 7.Lodging the enquiry

In the field 'I want to apply for a', select 'Resident parking permit' from the list.

Then select 'New Permit' or 'Replacement Permit'

Apply now

Replace your permit

To replace your permit due to loss or damage, submit an Online Services application for a replacement permit. 

Cancel your permit

Refer to cancel a parking permit, for instructions on how to submit an application for the cancellation of an existing permit.
