An Additional animal approval - Breeder premise allows you to keep a permitted number of animals on your property for the term of the approval and if you adhere to the conditions of the approval. A recognised breeder can apply to keep animals in excess of the number allowed in the local law.
Complete an Additional animal permit application(PDF, 877KB) and pay the fee. This fee is not refundable if the application is declined.
Council will assess the application and an inspection of the property may be conducted. Minimum standards and conditions for keeping animals are outlined on the application form.
You will be advised of the decision and conditions of approval in writing.
The approval is valid for a twelve-month period (1 October to 30 September) which expires on 30 September each year unless previously surrendered or cancelled.
This approval is not transferable to another person or property.
Renewal of approval
Council will post a Renewal of additional animal approval form to the approval holder before expiration each year. This form must be completed and returned to Council, together with applicable supporting documentation before 30 September to renew the Additional animal approval.
Replacement of animals kept under the approval
Approval holders are permitted to replace an animal being held under an Additional animal approval permit, provided the number of animals being kept on the premises does not exceed the number approved on the permit.
Cancellation of the approval
If an approval is no longer required (request for cancellation) or if any circumstances relating to the approval should change, notification should be submitted to council in writing.
