Botanical mandala print workshop with Phoebe Hofsteede

Next date: Friday, 03 October 2025 | 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

The camera is angled down, there is a piece of paper surrounded by real flowers. The paper has black flower silhouettes created from ink.

Are you looking for a creative workshop near Brisbane? Join Phoebe to create a beautiful botanical print mandala using pressed flower art techniques, inks and paper. These workshops take place in various locations across Moreton Bay, north of Brisbane.

Mandala, meaning circle in Sanskrit, is a geometric design organised around a unifying centre. Botanical mandalas reflect the circle of life. They serve as a symbol of the ever-changing seasons we encounter throughout life.

The workshop begins with a short, guided relaxation exercise to help calm your nervous system. Then, Phoebe will guide you through a meditative process of working with natural items to design your print. This involves pressing flowers and foliage into ink, then transferring the ink onto thick artist paper stock.

What's included

  • A sensory experience using natural materials.
  • All the materials needed to design your print.
  • An A4-sized artwork to take home, including test prints.

  • How to use natural objects to create patterns and designs.
  • Practise fine motor skills and design skills.

What to bring

  • Clothes that can get dirty/ink on them, or an apron.
