• listen to your local radio stations on a battery-powered radio for weather and warning updates (ABC 612, 99.7FM or 101.5FM)
• watch local television channels and the ABC for warning updates.

• Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) website - weather updates and weather warnings
• Queensland Disasters and Alerts website - information on emergency alert messages issued and current disaster events
• sign up for MoretonAlert, Council's free SMS, email and voice alerting system
• follow Council's Facebook page for regular updates during an emergency event
• Energex Emergency outages
• Unitywater Faults and Emergencies - a self-help service for water outages in your area or to alert Unitywater of an issue.

Listen out

• Standard Emergency Warning Signal - used at the beginning of serious emergency warnings
• Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious early warning system 
• local community safety announcements (radio/TV) - advice, updates and to identify the preferred evacuation routes for your area
• sirens and loudhailer announcements - used by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) in certain circumstances
