Sutton's Beach
Moreton Bay Regional Council is currently trialing the Accessible beaches initiative at Suttons Beach on the Redcliffe Peninsula. The aim of this trial is to enable everyone to access and enjoy a day out at Suttons Beach.
A 50 metre beach matting (Mobi-Mat®) pathway provides access onto the beach, while a Hippocampe beach wheelchair (coming soon) enables users to travel along the beach and down to the water’s edge.
Beach Mat (Mobi-Mat®)
The permanently installed beach mat provides an accessible and stable walkway onto the beach all year round. It has been shown to significantly improve access onto the beach for users of mobility devices (e.g. wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walking frames, etc.), people with chronic health conditions (e.g. arthritis), seniors, and families pushing prams or beach carts.
Key features of the beach mat include:
- Location: Suttons Beach Park
- Dimensions: 1.53 metres (W) x 49 metres (L)
- Availability: 7 days a week, 365 days a year*
- Product leaflet(PDF, 4MB)
* Subject to beach and weather conditions.
