A massive $300,000 has hit the bank accounts of community groups around Moreton Bay Region.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the annual community grants fund was more important than ever, as clubs and community groups struggle to continue operating through COVID-19.

“More than 60 local groups across our region will now find a cash injection of up to $15,000 in their accounts,” Cr Flannery said.

“This money will buy for much-needed equipment and pay for facilities upgrades, which will hopefully give work to local handymen and tradies.

“It’s wonderful to deliver more good news to the community, especially when there is so much uncertainty in the wake of COVID-19.

“We are proud to announce that our latest round of grants will go to more than 60 different community groups in Moreton Bay. The funds will not only assist the groups themselves but also the countless residents who rely on their services.

“These groups will now be able to perform important facility upgrades and purchase much needed equipment to ensure the safety and enjoyment of residents across the region.

“These include everything from a new car park, safety lighting installation, website development and office equipment, storage bins and defibrillators.

“We hope that this cash injection will directly help local organisations while sending ripples of positivity throughout the entire community.”
