Narangba intersection upgrade

We are upgrading the intersection of Young Road, Oakey Flat Road, and Sovereign Drive in Narangba. These updates aim to improve road safety and traffic flow.

A traffic signalised intersection will replace the current single-lane roundabout. The upgrade will:

  • improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists
  • reduce congestion and improve traffic efficiency
  • support increased demand from growing residential development in the area.

Scope of works

The upgrade works include:

  • installation of new traffic signals
  • widening of Oakey Flat Road to two lanes each way
  • added lanes to separate through-traffic and turning traffic
  • installation of signalised pedestrian crossings
  • new and upgraded footpaths
  • on-road cycle lanes added
  • added fauna crossings to allow safe wildlife movement
  • improved landscaping and street lighting
  • reconstruction of the road pavement.

Council will also upgrade the stormwater retention basin in Champion Court Park. This will support the intersection works and enhance local drainage during rainfall events.

Timeline of works

  • Works will start on the retention basin in Champion Court Park in mid-October 2025.
  • Relocation of the below-ground services at the intersection will start in February 2026.
