City of Moreton Bay is experiencing rapid population growth, increasing traffic demands throughout the city. As part of the rolling 10-year capital works program, Council is planning to upgrade key roads and intersections across the transport network. This will cater for the needs of the community, both now and into the future.
Council has identified the need to upgrade Nathan Road from Lakeview Promenade to Pegasus Street to improve safety for all road users. This will support ongoing growth in the Rothwell area and the future upgrade of the Nathan Road Sports Ground.
The upgrade will provide:
- a wider cross-section and new pavement to tie into the adjacent sections of Nathan Road
- a single traffic lane and an on-road cycle lane in each direction
- kerbside parking and a pathway along the frontage of the sports ground
- channelised turn lanes for safe access into the sports ground
- a pedestrian refuge in proximity to Pegasus Street for pedestrians to cross Nathan Road
- fauna fencing to protect wildlife in the area.
This project will also include initial works for the upcoming stage 2 development of the Nathan Road Sports Complex. These works will provide early benefit to the Redcliffe Tigers AFL club.
These works will include:
- earthworks for Future fields and Clubhouse
- stormwater drainage
- service conduit installation
- temporary sediment and erosion controls
- carpark expansion.
