Online course: Get ready, respond and recover

Storm brewing

This course will provide you with an understanding of disasters relevant to the Moreton Bay region. You will be introduced to tools and resources that Council and other key agencies provide to assist you in preparing for, responding to and recovering from a natural disaster.

Who would benefit from the course?

Anyone with an interest in disaster preparedness, response and recovery would benefit from completing this course, it is also aimed at:

  • teachers or tutors delivering the Get ready, respond and recover course
  • service providers working with people with a disability to develop their own individualised Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness Plan.

The course can take between three to four hours to complete. If you choose to leave the course at any time, you will need to remember where you were up to, as the course will not go back to where you exited.

When exploring 'Types of Natural Disasters for South East Queensland' we recommend the types experienced within the Moreton Bay region, such as:

  • severe weather events
  • riverine flooding
  • coastal inundation (if living near the coast)
  • heatwave
  • bushfire.

You are, of course, welcome to explore and learn about other natural disasters that impact Queensland.

Accessing the course

To access the course, Council would appreciate your response to the following four questions. Once completed, you will be provided with a link to the online course.

If you need to find the course information again, we have developed a quick reference guide to help you find what you are looking for. The guide can be found under the Key resources section.

The Disaster Preparedness CALD course has been produced by City of Moreton Bay and supported by the Queensland Government's Get Ready Queensland program.
