Medicine and prescription medication can be disposed safely and responsibly through the national Return Unwanted Medicines (RUM) project. Medications should not be used by a person who was not prescribed the medication by their Doctor.

Limited medical waste is accepted in general waste wheelie bins and major waste facilities. 

Empty glass or plastic pill or medicine bottles are recyclable if their are no remaining contents, and the plastic or metal lids are removed from the glass bottles. Empty medication blister packs can be disposed of in general waste.
