Severe storms are more common than any other natural hazard. They are often unpredictable and can cause major property damage, as well as serious injury and even loss of life. South East Queensland can experience damaging storms and floods between September and March.
Floods can occur almost anywhere in Queensland and can rise over days, or in minutes in a flash flood. To prepare for and reduce the impact of flooding on your property, understand your flood risk.
The only way to stay safe is to stay out of floodwater. If it's flooded, forget it!
There are resources and tools residents can use to minimise the impact of severe weather including storms.

Adhere to warnings issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). They will issue timely information and advice to apply in severe weather.
