Annual celebrations grant

Annual celebrations grants provide funding to community groups for the delivery of activities in the region that acknowledge or celebrate designated observances. Maximum funding of $1,000 per application is available per activity. Larger amounts may be considered where broad community benefit is demonstrated.

Projects must be delivered during the designated observance dates. Annual observance dates change from year to year. Check the designated dates for each observance: Harmony Week, Queensland Youth Week, NAIDOC Week, Seniors Month, Disability Action Week

Applying for annual celebrations grants

Submit your application any time before the closing date for each celebration. Closing dates are:

  • Seniors Month - 14 August 2023 
  • Disability Action Week - 9 October 2023
  • Harmony Week - 5 February 2024
  • Queensland Youth Week - 26 February 2024
  • NAIDOC Week - 20 May 2024.

Outcomes are notified approximately two weeks after the closing dates.

Who can apply

A Community organisation that applies for funding must meet the following criteria:

  • be based on the Moreton Bay Region and/or can demonstrate that the proposed project will benefit residents of the Moreton Bay Region
  • have $20 million public liability insurance if required by Council
  • have no overdue Moreton Bay Regional Council grant acquittals.

Individuals are not eligible to apply for funding.

Unincorporated community groups may apply through an auspice which is able to accept legal and financial responsibility for the project.

Retrospective funding of projects is not available.

Supporting documentation

The following documentation is required for all Annual Celebrations grant applications:

  • current public liability certificate of insurance
  • quotes for grant expenditure items $500 and above.

Note that events or activities on public or private land that are open to the general public may require a public space permit from Council. Please check before finalising this application.

Assessment and notification

Applications progress through the following stages:

  1. Eligibility review
  2. Merit assessment
  3. Council endorsement
  4. Applicants notified approximately 10 business days after closing date.
