MoretonAlert is a free SMS, email and voice alerting system. It provides severe weather warnings, bushfire warning messages, Council-prescribed burn notifications, potential flash flooding incidents and planned dam releases within our region. Messages include basic information about the type of emergency, the level of threat and recommended action to take.

Inactive accounts

Council may review the MoretonAlert subscriber database to ensure accounts are receiving alerts successfully. If your account is identified as inactive, Council will attempt to contact you by mail. If there is no response or you fail to update your contact information, your account may be placed on hold for 12 months. During this time, you will not receive MoretonAlert notifications. Inactive accounts will be deleted after 12 months.

How to unsubscribe

You can unsubscribe at any stage by cancelling your subscription via your My Moreton Bay profile. Alternatively, send an email to or contact Council.

New users

You must opt-in to more than one notification method, for example, SMS and email. If you prefer to only have one form of communication recorded, contact Council. Subscribers who opt-in for only one notification method may not receive critical safety messages if that communication channel fails during a disaster.
