Residents urged to be ready for heavy rainfall and flash-flooding

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast showers and thunderstorms to impact widespread parts of South East Queensland this week.
Possible heavy rainfalls of between 50mm and 150 mm are expected over the next 24 hours, with heavier falls in some isolated areas leading to possible flash-flooding.
Moreton Bay Regional Council is urging local residents to be storm ready:
- Alert family, friends and neighbours of storm warnings
- Sign up for MoretonAlert
- Monitor weather warnings and radar imagery at www.bom.gov.au/qld
- Stay tuned for updates via your battery-operated radio
- Keep an eye on local media for latest news
- Have a torch handy with spare batteries
- Secure loose outdoor items – garden furniture, tables and chairs, outside toys
- Shelter pets from the storm
- Place your vehicle undercover and away from trees
- Secure all doors, windows and skylights
- Disconnect unneeded electrical appliances
- Keep your emergency kit close by
- Be aware of neighbours who may need assistance

- Listen to the radio for further updates
