Deceased animals

Small deceased animals, up to the size of a dog, are accepted at Council’s major waste facilities for disposal.

Disposal of small to medium sized dead animals are permitted 7 days a week.

24 hours notice must be provided for large animals (horses, alpacas, cattle etc) or for more than three small or medium sized animals at the same time.

Contact Council to provide 24 hours notice or for more information on the disposal of livestock and larger animals. 

A deceased animal which may have been contaminated with an agent infectious to humans or classed as a bio-security risk for animal health is not accepted for disposal at any Council waste facility.

Notes and conditions

  • Deceased animals must be bagged and contained prior to attending the waste facility.
  • Disposal of all dead animals will incur a fee.
  • Customers will not be allowed to dispose of large animals or more than three small or medium sized animals at the same time without providing the required 24 hours notice.
