Outdoor recreation

The popularity of outdoor recreation is continuing to grow across our region and the whole of Australia. The term ‘outdoor recreation’ refers to a broad range of activities that are done outside, most commonly in natural settings.

The type of activities can vary depending on the environment they are being carried out in, but can include:

  • bushwalking
  • mountain biking
  • horse riding
  • water activities.

The economic, social and environmental benefits of recreation and physical activity are well documented.

As the leading service provider in our community, Council has a significant role to play in providing access to these opportunities.
