Esme Avenue - Caboolture River pathway and viewing platforms

Council supports healthy and active lifestyles for residents by investing in safe, efficient, reliable and integrated transport networks. This project is consistent with that aim and will improve pedestrian infrastructure.

In November 2021, Council constructed a new pathway from Alfred Street to Esme Avenue, Caboolture, which included a section on the southern side of Esme Avenue under the rail overpass.

This project will connect the existing pathway at Morayfield Road, along the southern side of Esme Avenue, to the recently constructed path from the 2021 project. It will also provide an opportunity for the local community to spend time in the vicinity and take in the views across the Caboolture River via new viewing platforms with tables and shelters.

The project includes construction of:

  • a two-metre wide concrete pathway
  • elevated decking structures
  • a raised pedestrian crossing connecting with existing stairs at the rear of 6-8 King Street
  • a parking bay for people with disability.

Some trees will be affected as part of the project design. Council will remove any weed species in poor condition. However, the healthiest trees will be maintained, providing shade, amenity and habitat value. In line with Council’s policy, any tree removed will be replaced within the local area with three native trees.

Council is aware of the local demand for car parking. The design aims to minimise the impact on the existing car park, with an overall loss of seven parking spaces.
