Join us at the Kallangur Neighbourhood Centre for a relaxing, hands-on workshop creating a 3D sculpture from ocean glass. 

Suitable for beginners, our friendly facilitator, Russell Solomon, will guide you every step of the way.

You'll learn easy wire-wrapping techniques and use them to transform sea glass into a work of art.

With a variety of glass colours and wire finishes to choose from, you'll leave this creative activity with something that is uniquely yours.

All materials and tools provided.

About the facilitator

Russell Solomon was born into an artistic family, most notably his grandfather, Lance Solomon, a renowned landscape painter. Under his tutelage, Russell followed his passion and honed his artistic skills.

After a lifetime of drawing, Russell discovered wire as a three-dimensional line and created his first wire sculpture in 1989. Using wire as a medium for expression and drawing offered Solomon a new level of tangibility and engagement with his art.

In his late twenties, Russell pursued a full-time career as an artist, exhibiting extensively, creating prolifically, and selling sculptures through markets, gallery gift shops and boutique stores. He has explored the possibilities of the medium while conducting workshops in his local community, schools, regional and remote communities, and First Nations communities across Australia.

Over the past 25 years, he has incorporated recycled and found objects into his art, continuing to express his concern for the environment, its inhabitants and our impact on it.

Russell's arts practice is greatly influenced by his love of Australian native fauna and flora, our role in the environment, and the effect we have on it. He also frequently examines social issues facing contemporary society.

His work is represented in private and corporate collections worldwide.
