Sandstone Point Memorial Park

Discover the charm of Sandstone Point Memorial Park, a delightful coastal space where culture, history and fun come together!

This park sits on the traditional lands of the Ningy Ningy people. They gathered here for important ceremonies, and their deep connection to the land is still visible today. At low tide, you can see the remains of a large fish trap at the northern point of the park. You’ll also find an ancient Bora ring on Bestmann Road, Ningi.

The park also holds a special place in modern history. In 1823, surveyor and explorer John Oxley landed here, and during World War II, the area served as an Allied amphibious training base. Council erected a monument in 1995 to commemorate the service of those who trained there.

Kids will enjoy the shaded playground, complete with a slide, climbing fort, and swings. There is also a large sloping grassy hill that is perfect for some roly-poly fun! Mini-explorers will love discovering shells, sea life and shorebirds along the Sandstone Point Foreshore Walk. It extends around the southern end of the park.

Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the outdoor exercise equipment, including an elliptical machine and parallel bars. There is also direct beach access for swimming and water sports, such as canoeing or kayaking.

The foreshore is a popular spot for local anglers, who often reel in whiting and bream.

The park's features include public toilets with accessible facilities, ample parking, and bins. There are also free electric barbecues and sheltered picnic areas for gatherings.

Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash, even while enjoying the dog on-leash beach area. You must maintain a 10-metre distance between dogs and the playground for the safety of children.
