Council are undertaking important drainage and road upgrades in Rose, Mary and Winifred Streets in Mango Hill. These works deliver on a commitment made in Council’s 2025–26 Budget. They aim to improve local infrastructure and support a safer, more resilient neighbourhood.
Rose, Mary and Winifred Streets lack kerbs and adequate drainage. During heavy rainfall, the existing drains and pipes can lead to shallow flooding on residential properties.
Driveways will be affected due to the replacement of driveway cross over drainage pipes and headwalls. Council will reinstate driveways to standard designs as many are currently not standard). These design changes will help stormwater flow more easily through the road reserve.
Construction
Work will be carried out in stages to limit the impact on residences in the area.
Current works (from mid-August 2026)
- Unitywater and Energex service relocations. This may occur alongside or separate to Council’s works.
- Removal of some vegetation (to be offset by planting in a nearby location).
- Removal of driveways to facilitate drainage works.
Residents who will be impacted by this have received written notice from Council.
Upcoming works
- New stormwater drains and kerbs installed to improve the local stormwater network.
- Removal and replacement of the existing road pavement.
- Reinstatement of driveways to standard configurations.
- Footpath construction and landscaping, including turfing and tree planting.
Due to the nature of works, resident access and traffic flow will be affected along some streets. Council will work with affected residents to help provide access during construction. There will also be diversions of the footpath around active construction areas.
Trees will be removed to accommodate service relocations. This will also help with the installation of open drainage and stormwater pipes. This project includes planting new street friendly trees along with an offset planting program.
These works have been planned in accordance with Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) sustainable water management principles. This approach considers the natural elements of a site to sustainably manage water and support healthy ecosystems.
