Council is upgrading the community facilities at Toovey Street, Caboolture.
This project will restore selected buildings to create a modern, accessible community hub. The upgrade will better support local organisations, their work, and the community.
The works include refurbishments to the former PCYC buildings and the OSHC. Council will remove old, unsafe structures to make way for improved facilities.
Project features and benefits
The project will improve the buildings for current and future community use. The upgrades are based on community feedback and building condition assessments.
Key features of the project include:
- refurbished buildings to better meet community needs
- improved usability using universal design principles
- upgraded amenities for staff, volunteers, and visitors
- better shared spaces to support community connection
- clearer navigation across the site
- building upgrades, including fire, electrical, and mechanical improvements
- improved green spaces, comfort, and energy efficiency
- better water management to reduce flooding risks
- removal of ageing and unsafe structures.
The renovated facility will provide a new home for a range of groups. The groups support vulnerable members of the Caboolture community.
A new fit-for-purpose centre will help organisations continue to deliver important community programs. It will also allow them to expand their services if needed.
The project will also improve connections to nearby parklands and natural areas, creating a more inviting and inclusive space for the community.
Consultation
Council and the project team held consultation workshops for current and future tenants. This helped them better understand community groups' needs and priorities for the space. The input helped shape the concept design and ensures the facility is accessible and fit-for-purpose.
Funding
This project receives funding from City of Moreton Bay and the Australian Government. Support is provided through the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
This investment forms part of the 2024 Federal Election commitment.
