Local community support grant

This grant provides funding to community organisations to support local community, cultural, sporting and environmental projects and initiatives benefiting the Moreton Bay region. Maximum funding of $3,000 per application, up to a maximum of $5,000 per financial year.

When to apply?

  • Applications are open throughout the year and can be submitted at any time until 30 April 2024 (program close).
  • Closing dates for each round
    • 31 July 2023
    • 31 October 2023
    • 31 January 2024
    • 30 April 2024
  • Outcome notification - approximately 3 weeks after round closing date
  • Project start date - one month after assessment date.

Who can apply

A Community organisation that applies for funding must meet the following criteria:

  • be based on the Moreton Bay region and/or can demonstrate that the proposed project will benefit residents of the Moreton Bay region
  • have $20 million public liability insurance if required by Council
  • have no overdue City of Moreton Bay grant acquittals. 

Unincorporated community groups may apply through an auspice which is able to accept legal and financial responsibility for the project. The auspice organisation must meet the above criteria. Individuals are not eligible to apply for funding.

Supporting documentation

The following documentation is required for all Local Community Support grant applications:

  • current public liability certificate of insurance
  • most recent audited or verified financial statements
  • quotes for grant expenditure items $500 and above.

The following additional documents may also be required:

  • proof of not-for-profit status
  • Improvement Works Application (IWA) letter of authority
  • Public Space Permit approvals
  • written confirmation from auspicing organisation
  • wildlife rehabilitation permit.

Assessment and notification

Applications progress through the following stages:

  1. Eligibility check
  2. Merit assessment
  3. Council endorsement
  4. Applicants notified approximately 20 business days after closing date.
