Amendment Local Law (Requirements for Reclaiming an Impounded Animal)

Notice of Making Amendment Local Law (Requirements for Reclaiming an Impounded Animal) 2026 and Amendment Subordinate Local Law (Requirements in Respect of the Keeping of Animals) 2026.

1. Moreton Bay City Council (Council) has, by resolution dated 29 July 2026, made:

• (a) Amendment Local Law (Requirements for Reclaiming an Impounded Animal) 2026 (Amendment Local Law); and
• (b) Amendment Subordinate Local Law (Requirements in Respect of the Keeping of Animals) 2026 (Amendment Subordinate Local Law).

2. The Amendment Local Law amends the Animal Management Local Law 2023.

3. The Amendment Subordinate Local Law amends the Animal Management Subordinate Local Law 2023.

4. The purpose and general effect of the Amendment Local Law is to correct a typographical error in section 65 of the Animal Management Local Law 2023.

5. The purpose and general effect of the Amendment Subordinate Local Law is to clarify the operation of Schedule 2 of the Animal Management Subordinate Law 2023 as it relates to the keeping of regulated dogs.

6. The Animal Management Local Law 2023 authorises the making of the Amendment Subordinate Local Law.

7. A copy of the Amendment Local Law and the Amendment Subordinate Local Law may be:

• (a) inspected and purchased at Council’s public office; and
• (b) viewed by the public on Council’s website and the website of the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers.
