New Freshwater Creek Pedestrian Bridge, Griffin and Mango Hill

Council is building the Freshwater Creek Pedestrian Bridge, a new infrastructure project across Freshwater Creek. The bridge will connect Aspire Parade, Griffin, to Brushwood Court, Mango Hill. This provides a much-needed active-transport link between the two suburbs.

The bridge will make it easier for Griffin residents to access Mango Hill Rail Station, public transport services and the Moreton Bay Rail Cycleway.

About the works

From 27 July 2026, we'll carry out site investigations to better understand ground conditions and inform the bridge design. This work may include drilling, soil testing, site surveys, and tree trimming or removal where required. You may notice workers, equipment and vehicles in the area while these investigations are underway.

We expect construction of the new pedestrian and cycle bridge to begin in early 2027.

Access to areas near Brushwood Court, Wattlebird Street and Aspire Parade may be restricted during project works.

Hours of construction

Work will take place between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. We will carry out all works per the environmental approval conditions to minimise impacts such as:

  • noise
  • vibration
  • dust
  • odour
  • debris.

Environmental considerations

Protecting the Freshwater Creek corridor has been an important part of the bridge design. While we may need to remove a small number of trees, we've designed the bridge to minimise impacts on Melaleuca and Eucalypt trees and the surrounding environment.

Funding

Queensland Government funding is supporting delivery of the design component.
