Council is undertaking an important infrastructure project in Bongaree. The work will take place at the culvert crossing of Williams Creek on South Esplanade, across from Apex Park.
Project overview
Due to the coastal environment, the existing culverts have deteriorated from rust and broken concrete. This project will upgrade the existing culverts and concrete headwalls. The current structure consists of six reinforced concrete box culverts, each measuring:
- 2.4 metres in width
- 1.8 metres in height.
As part of the upgrade, we will extend the culverts. This extension will make room for a 3-metre-wide pedestrian pathway across the crossing.
Project goals
Renewing the culverts will enhance pedestrian connectivity, providing a seamless pathway network for Bribie Island. The project will also ensure long-term durability and safety for our City of Moreton Bay residents.
What to expect during construction
Council will close the crossing to ensure the safety of workers and the public during construction. We will have signposted detours and alternative routes to minimise inconvenience.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we undertake this essential project.
