Council is undertaking an important infrastructure project in Bongaree. The work will take place at the culvert crossing of Williams Creek on South Esplanade, across from Apex Park.
Project overview
Due to the harsh coastal environment, the existing culverts have deteriorated. This project will upgrade the existing culverts and concrete headwalls. The current structure consists of six reinforced concrete box culverts, each measuring:
- 2.4 metres in width
- 1.8 metres in height.
As part of the upgrade, we will increase the length of the culverts. This extension will allow for a 3-metre-wide pedestrian pathway across Williams Creek.
Project goals
Renewing the culverts will enhance road and pedestrian connectivity, providing a seamless pathway network for Bribie Island. The project will also ensure long-term asset durability and safety for our City of Moreton Bay residents.
What to expect during construction
Council will close the crossing to ensure the safety of workers and the public during construction and allow for faster construction. We will have signposted detours and alternative routes to minimise inconvenience.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we undertake this essential project.
