Moreton Bay State Emergency Service
The State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer organisation that provides support to the community in times of emergency and disaster.
The Moreton Bay SES Unit is proudly supported in managing partnership by City of Moreton Bay and Queensland SES.
What the SES does
SES members are highly skilled volunteers who undertake regular ongoing training to help vulnerable members of the community during and after emergencies.
SES provide support for emergency situations during floods, storms or other similar events. Capabilities span across operational response and non-operational activities and can support across multiple capability areas.
The first column lists a particular capability area of the SES. The second column lists what that particular capability includes.

SES is not available for general maintenance such as leaking roofs or to clean blocked gutters. Property owners are responsible for their own household preparedness or if you rent your property, contact the owner or manager for maintenance issues.
It is recommended preparedness tasks are undertaken before October, prior to the severe weather season.
SES needs your permission to enter your property or access a roof. SES volunteers may need to turn off your power before accessing your roof. If the SES turns off your power, you will be responsible for reconnecting it.
Storm and flood emergencies
During a disaster, the SES may be overwhelmed with requests for help and may not be able to get to you immediately.
Before calling the SES, consider whether you can help yourself by:
- placing a bucket under a leak
- repositioning furniture
- placing a tarp over furniture.
You can call the SES for the following help during emergencies:
- fallen trees and branches blocking access to your home
- major flooding
- access to tarpaulins for homes
- access to sandbags (if you are unable to help yourself).
