Ferny Grove to Samford Rail Trail
Are you looking for an easy and fun bike trail in Moreton Bay? Grab your bike and rally your friends and family to get cycling on the Ferny Grove to Samford Rail Trail.
The best place to begin your journey is from the Ferny Grove Railway Station. Make your way from the station down Lanita Road, where you'll soon find the main trail entrance. From here, it's a little over 9 kilometres to the charming Samford Village.
At the end of Lanita Road, the gentle gradients of the former rail corridor provide an enjoyable and scenic ride through Samford Conservation Park. You'll then come upon rolling farmland around the base of Camp Mountain.
From this point, you'll be travelling on rural roads with a few hills that provide a bit more of a challenge.
Follow Mclean Road South to the former Camp Mountain Station. This is where you can stop for a rest amongst the trees and take in some history of the Dayboro branch railway line. You can learn more about the 1946 railway derailment disaster that led to the closure of the rail line in 1955.
From here, continue along Mclean Road South until you reach a junction, and do a sharp turn across Camp Mountain Road to Mclean Road North. Follow Mclean Road North and Peterson Road before turning right onto Camp Mountain Road which will take you into Samford Village.
Hop off your bike and take your time exploring Samford Village. There are plenty of cafés, local grocers, plant nurseries and more to discover. When you're planning your next bike ride, you could line it up with the Samford Valley Markets.
