Community feedback drives investment in safer streets & neighbourhoods

• Community feedback from Council’s Moreton Says survey continues to help inform Council's priorities, including initiatives that support community safety, road safety, disaster preparedness and the delivery of safe, welcoming public spaces
• Council is inviting all residents to have their say in the next Moreton Says survey, open from 7 August to 6 September 2026

Community feedback is helping shape real investment decisions across City of Moreton Bay, with findings from past Moreton Says surveys influencing Council's 2026/27 Budget priorities. 

The latest city-wide survey found nearly seven in 10 residents say feeling safe is one of the most important aspects of where they live, while road safety, disaster preparedness and access to parks and natural areas also remain key priorities. 

Further, road safety, including for those walking or riding bikes, remained a high priority with 82% of community members rating it extremely or very important, up from 80% in 2025. 

Mayor Peter Flannery said the results reinforced Council's ongoing commitment to investing in the infrastructure and services that help create a safe, connected and liveable city. 

"Moreton Says gives residents a genuine opportunity to influence the decisions we make as a Council," Mayor Flannery said. 

"Along with our regular project and planning consultations, it gives residents a direct voice in the decisions we make and helps us better understand what matters most to our community. 

“When residents tell us feeling safe matters, we listen," Mayor Flannery said. 

“We're not just collecting feedback, we're using it to help inform initiatives such as CCTV, public lighting, road safety improvements, disaster preparedness and the upkeep of our parks and community facilities. 

“Your feedback plays a vital role in shaping the future of our city.” 

Council’s 2026/2027 Budget is investing $37 million to public safety and disaster management, including $2.57 million to expand Council's CCTV surveillance program.  

It has also committed $56.86 million to road rehabilitation and resurfacing, $12.9 million for road safety and transport infrastructure minor improvements program and continues to fund essential services that often happen behind the scenes, including stormwater maintenance, disaster preparedness, environmental protection and long-term planning. 

Since launching in 2021, Moreton Says has collected more than 32,500 responses, providing valuable insights that help guide Council's planning, service delivery and investment decisions.
