Microchipping

In Queensland, cats and dogs aged between 8 and 12 weeks must be microchipped. It is the seller or giver's responsibility and microchipping can only be performed by an authorised person.

Subsidised microchipping for cats and dogs

Council provides subsidised microchipping at the Dakabin Animal Pound and Animal Management Centre. The facility is located on Goodwin Road, Dakabin. View the map.

You will be required to provide Photo ID as proof of age and residency in Moreton Bay region, when attending.

Microchipping for cats or dogs costs 149874 including GST and covers supply and implant of the microchip as well as microchip registration.

If an unregistered cat or dog attends the facility for microchipping, registration must be completed.

Free microchipping for registered dogs

Free microchipping is available to dogs registered within the Moreton Bay region when attending a Pets in Public Spaces event.
