Welcoming places are dedicated library spaces highlighting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and developed in consultation with local communities. A community-selected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island artwork creates a focus for each space, where all people are welcome to find and share cultural information. Our Welcoming Place collection includes books, DVDs, newspapers, and journals, plus static and digital displays.
Discover our Welcoming Places at our Bribie, Caboolture, Deception Bay and Redcliffe libraries.
National Reconciliation Week 2020
We present Ghunghanghi elder and founding member of Reconciliation Queensland, Aunty Flo Watson, talking with University of Queensland academic and proud Wakka Wakka woman, Emily McConochie.
The women met at the Caboolture Library's Welcoming Place and spoke about National Reconciliation Week, which is celebrated from 27 May to 3 June, and this year's theme of "In this together".
We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.
