Library card

You can join Moreton Bay Region Libraries if you live, work or study in the region. You can also join if you live in a neighbouring region, i.e. Brisbane City Council, Somerset Regional Council, Sunshine Coast Region or Noosa Shire Council, or are visiting the Moreton Bay Region temporarily. 

Your library card gives you free access to more than half a million items across the Moreton Bay Region Library Service. Our collections support all forms of learning and literacy and are available in print, digital and audio-visual formats. Through our collections, we aim to reflect our people, culture, places, heritage and history. 

Library Membership is free, there are fees and charges for some services.  By becoming a member, you agree to comply with Library Membership Conditions.

How do I join?

Join online

It’s easy to join. Adults (over 18) can simply bring current identification to any of our libraries or you can join online. Online Members can access most services provided by Moreton Bay Region Libraries.  To borrow physical items visit us, we’ll verify your ID and issue a physical library card.

Under 18

Children and young people under 18 can join the library. When joining they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must also be a library member and provide identification.

Visitors/Non-permanent residents

Visitors temporarily residing in the Moreton Bay Region can join the library by providing identification including proof of permanent residential address and proof of temporary place of residence.


Organisations such as schools and nursing homes located in the Moreton Bay Region can also join. The membership application will need to be signed by a person with appropriate authority who is taking responsibility for the membership.

Identification requirements

Documents of identification need to include your name and current residential address. Photo ID such as a driver’s licence is preferable, but a Centrelink Concession Card, recent rates notice, utilities bill, bank statement or similar can be used instead; digital identification is also acceptable.

Membership conditions

By becoming a member you agree to comply with Library Membership Conditions:

  • adhere to Council's policies and procedures
  • be respectful of other library users and staff
  • take care of library items
  • renew or return items by the due date
  • reimburse or replace lost or damaged items
  • promptly pay any fees or charges incurred
  • accept responsibility for your child's choice of library resources and use of the internet
  • supervise your children on library premises
  • comply with the Copyright Act 1968
  • advise of changes to personal details
  • promptly report lost or stolen cards.

Your membership lets you

Library membership is free, however some items or services may attract a small fee.
