Dementia-friendly libraries

Libraries across City of Moreton Bay are working towards becoming dementia-friendly venues. We have created an action plan with the community and Dementia Australia. It focuses on community education and staff training. Our aim is more inclusive programming, spaces, and collections in our libraries.

We have resources to support individuals with dementia, their families and carers. Find items in the library or online for dementia support and information, apps and services. View our dementia resources.

Our libraries have accessible parking, access, and toilet facilities. Redcliffe Library has an adult change table facility as part of the Changing Places program.

Dementia support services

Magic tables

Interacting with Magic Tables has many benefits for people with dementia. Try them at Caboolture, North Lakes, Redcliffe and Strathpine Libraries.

Quiet hour

During Quiet hour lights are low, music is off, and noise from phones, computers and announcements are kept to a minimum. Sessions are held weekly.

Home library service

If dementia prevents you from visiting the local library, you may be eligible to have books and other resources delivered by our home library service.

Selected libraries offer SENSEational Play to families with special needs in a welcoming and judgement-free space. The library will only be open for SENSEational Play in the first hour of each event.
