Pine Rivers District history

First nations

Prior to European settlement, the Pine Rivers area was home to a number of Aboriginal clans.

European arrival

Although James Cook and Matthew Flinders sailed past Moreton Bay in the late eighteenth century, land exploration did not commence until the early 1820s.

Settlement and federation

Settlement of the Pine Rivers region had to await the closure of the Moreton Bay convict settlement in 1842.

Pine Rivers regions

Explore the rich history of the Pine Rivers District, where once there were only open plains filled with trees and vegetation, now there are buildings and shops supporting the suburban communities that have emerged.
