First 5 Forever

Baby playing with book on play mat

First 5 Forever is a statewide program providing strong early literacy foundations for all Queensland children ages 0-5 years. Visit your local library for fun, free, family-friendly activities and resources to help you make the most of your child’s first 5 years. They are great places to meet other families, play, borrow books or toys, and share stories, songs, and nursery rhymes.

First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by the State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.

Play spaces in our libraries

Explore a world of play, imagination and learning at your local library.

Play-based learning is important for brain development and early childhood literacy. Play-based learning supports children's physical, cognitive, mental, social, and emotional development.

Visit our library junior areas and discover a new way to learn with a wide range of sensory, physical, construction, pretend and creative-themed play at your local library. While there, sign your child up to become a Moreton Bay Region Library member. It is never too early to start!

Styles of play

Using variety in how you play with your child encourages different senses and builds skills and abilities.  Learn more about Styles of play by taking part in our library Playtime sessions or borrowing toys from our libraries.
