LibrariesFirst 5 Forever
First 5 Forever programs offer language development and literacy experiences for children 0-5 years and support parents/carers as their child’s first teacher. This project is funded by State Library of Queensland from 2015 to the end of 2018.
Choose from a range of fun and informative First 5 Forever activities at the library and help your child develop early literacy skills. As part of First 5 Forever, Moreton Bay Region Libraries is offering new programming for children, parents and carers, such as Playtime, plus extra Baby Rhyme Time and Storytime for you to enjoy.
You and your little ones might also find us at pop-up playtimes around the region. Follow us on Facebook for dates and details.
Even under 5s can enjoy special activities during school holidays. Tickets required: Registration for Summer activities will open 1.00pm, Thursday, 6 December. Places limited.
Explore the variety of books and toys for your child to borrow and enjoy as you play and learn together. Browse the 50 Books to Read Before You're 5 list, pick up a copy in the library or download the booklet [PDF - 1.9MB].
Did you know that the first 5 years
last a lifetime?
Research shows that up to 90% of a
child's brain development happens in the first 5 years. First
5 Forever is about spending lots of time talking, singing, playing
and reading with our babies and children so that growing brains get
what they need at the right time.
Our FREE First 5 Forever toolkits
contain useful items to get you started including:
- A quality picture book to share
- A puppet to play and talk with in the bath.
- A nursery rhyme book and DVD with all the words to sing
- A colourful frieze of favourite rhymes for you to enjoy.
If you have children under five,
talk to your friendly library staff about how you can get a First 5
Forever toolkit to share with your child.
Subscribe to the First 5 Forever newsletter to receive monthly First 5 content in your inbox.
