Everyday absurdity: Creative space

A display of vehicle parts in black net bags

What do a chopped-up car, a mammoth, and a spool of jute all have in common?

Everyday absurdity asks this question and more. Through hands-on activities developed by artist duo Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro, this creative space celebrates weird, whacky, and the altogether absurd ways of making art.

In this space, you’re invited to:

  • Question the function of objects (and see if they give you an answer).
  • Get knotty and learn the art of yarn-bombing – the more nonsensical, the better!
  • Craft your very own papercraft car, inspired by We Hunt Mammoth.
  • Play pretend and coexist with extinct and surviving megafauna.

Free - no bookings required. All ages.

About the artists

Collaborating since 2001, Australian artistic duo Sean Cordeiro and Claire Healy’s practice reflects a preoccupation with the dynamics of global mobility — the networks and systems that enable and restrict the movement of people and goods in the modern era.

They have a willingness to reinvent structures and objects we encounter every day to better understand where we find ourselves.
