Saturday 23 May | Sci-fi shrine – cardboard construction workshop
Imagine that you’ve been transported to the distant future. Around you lie the remnants of forgotten technologies — objects once celebrated, now abandoned.
Technology evolves at lightning speed. Think about inventions that were once revolutionary: The Nokia flip phone, the trusty typewriter, even the humble horse and cart. Today, they feel like relics of another era.
Sean Cordeiro and Claire Healy invite us to reflect on this cycle of progress and obsolescence. How does technology transform over time? What will the future discard as casually as we’ve discarded these?
In this workshop, create a sci-fi shrine dedicated to something you imagine the future will desperately need — only to eventually throw away.
Saturday 13 June | Foam printmaking
Explore the playful world of printmaking in this sharps‑free workshop designed for young creatives.
Using foam plates and simple tools, participants will experiment with texture, pattern and colour to create their very own prints.
Be inspired by the Moreton Bay Art Prize 2026 exhibition and discover how artists transform ideas into imagery.
Saturday 27 June | Custom art journal
All great artists have a journal. Have you ever made one from scratch?
In this workshop, you'll create a custom art journal, with hand-selected paper and personalised details.
Design a cover, add a ribbon to mark where you left off, and fill it with treasures and keepsakes.
Art journals are a super way to encourage creativity and can be used as a simple scrap-book, notebook, for doodling and anything that inspires your little artist.
Saturday 11 July | Contour drawing
Contour drawing, sometimes called blind contour drawing, is an exciting way of putting pen to paper.
In this workshop, participants will explore how to draw people and objects without looking at the page, developing new ways of seeing and mark‑making.
Through a series of fun drawing challenges, children will experiment with different styles and create a collection of unique contour artworks.
Saturday 8 August | Bush brushes and prints
Inspired by the layered, multidisciplinary work of Judy Watson in kau in kau in blood blood, this workshop explores the natural environment as a source of connection and creativity.
Using plant leaves and other materials gathered from the garden, participants will experiment with relief printmaking and create their own handmade brushes.
Saturday 22 August | Terracotta clay creatures
Redcliffe is known for its striking cliffs, named for the rich red clay deposits found along Humpybong Creek. Ningy Ningy people called this place kau in kau in, meaning “blood blood,” in reference to the terracotta clay of the area.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will create their own response to the peninsula in animal, plant, or abstract form. Using hand building techniques, make a terracotta air dry clay creature inspired by the Moreton Bay lands and waters.
Saturday 5 September | Mapping it out
Judy Watson studies archival maps to uncover histories and stories that have been forgotten. Looking back allows us to reconsider how humans have understood, represented, and transformed Country over time.
Artists often blend scientific mapping with creative expression to explore identity and memory. In this workshop, create a detailed map of a place that matters to you and consider how you want that place to be remembered.
Saturday 3 October | Surface stories
Frottage is an artistic technique involving layering rubbings from textured surfaces - in fact, frottage is the French word for 'to rub.'
In the Tracing the Edges creative space, Lexie Able and Libby Harward invite you to use texture, shape, and surfaces to create layered compositions.
In this workshop, we will be inspired by Lexie and Libby, using frottage techniques to uncover your own surface story.
Saturday 17 October | Painting on fabric
Judy Watson’s use of soft washes and layered botanical pigments in kau in kau in blood blood reflect deep connections between material, memory, and Country.
In this workshop, we explore fabric as a surface for experimentation and expression.
Using a combination of natural and manmade pigments and dyes, participants will create gentle, marbled patterns on fabric. Paint and stain your own tote bag or tea towel, experimenting with colour, flow, and layering to produce unique, wearable artworks.
