Our Story Live: CREEC’s origin and significance

Next date: Wednesday, 07 August 2024 | 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Burpengary River at CREEC

Bribie Island Seaside Museum’s Our Story Live series showcases people and places of significance to Moreton Bay. Join us as we turn the spotlight to CREEC - the Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre - and learn how it connects the community with nature, builds environmental awareness and cares for local flora and fauna.

Situated on an 18-hectare reserve next to the Burpengary River, the Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre supports environmental education and recreation to the community. CREEC offers more than just the environment centre, it has an all-abilities playground, sensory garden, barbeques and café and gives locals a nearby place for bush walks.

Also hear about its Moreton Bay fig that is over 300 years old, the Macadamia plantation, and tales of local fauna including koalas, platypus and bush stone-curlews.

Bookings are essential. We will serve morning tea and refreshments during the event.

After the event, connect further with nature by visiting the museum's Wildflowering by Design exhibition. This collection of works by female artists takes inspiration from nature and botanica.
